Oklahoma Hail Storms, 2008/9

Baseball sized hail in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is notorious for its hail storms and the damage they cause. In November of 2008 so much hail fell in in the Moore, Oklahoma area that it looked like snow was covering the ground. In February of 2009 several homes were nearly destroyed in the Yukon area, with many more homes suffering significant roof damage. Trees and power lines were also down in numerous locations. The image on the left shows a few baseball-sized hail stones in the grass and street on the northwestern side of Yukon. Probably the most common question we get from people is whether or not they need to replace their roof after a hail storm. Homeowners often don't see any damage on their roofs, so they think the roof is safe. More likely than not, though, there will be hail damage from the storm. Equity 1 Exteriors, LLC, Inc. helped many Oklahoma residents repair or replace their hail damaged roofs in the winter of '08/'09. If your area has recently experienced a storm and you believe your roof may have hail damage, contact Equity 1 today.

The storm raged over most of the state, causing tree-toppling winds, lightning, flooding and severe hail damage. Golf ball-sized hail pelted the Phoenix area and other communities in central and northern parts of the state, damaging cars and homes. In Scottsdale the National Weather Service recorded hail 2.5 inches in diameter— the size of a tennis ball.
